hotelforum: 52 hotels from 13 countries are applying for the European “Hotel Property Award 2018”
14 Aug 2018
52 hotels from 13 European countries have applied this year for the European “Hotel Property Award 2018”, which will be presented on Wednesday, 10 October 2018, as part of the special hotelforum event.
The “Hotel Property Award” competition has thus once again received a record number of entries this year, after 50 hotels applied last year.
This year too, most of the applications come from the German-speaking region (Germany 27, Austria 3 and Switzerland 3), but the proportion of applicants from other European countries has now risen to almost 40 percent. Italy (5), The Netherlands (4) and Spain (3) are represented once more, as are Denmark (1), Greece (1), Ireland (1), Norway (1), Poland (1) and Russia (1), and for the first time there is one applicant from Belarus (1).
The growing proportion of applicants from the classical holiday hotels segment (13) confirms the current upward trend in demand for holiday destinations in Europe. The applications once more range from budget concepts pure and simple to exceptional quality in the luxury segment.
Andreas Martin chairs the hotelforum jury: “The record number of entries from 52 applicants reflects the number of recent openings, and is also a gratifying confirmation of the competition itself. I am particularly pleased about the growing number of applicants from other European countries. The variety of applications shows how innovative the European hotel property market has now become. The ‘upcycling’ approaches are interesting here too, both in terms of materials, as well as for hotels for which there is no longer a place on the market, or for former office premises.”
The award competition targeted both, hotel developers, owners and operators. Applications for the “Hotel Property Award” were received from hotels which were opened between January 2017 and June 2018 and which stand out from their competitors through a successful overall approach consisting of architecture, design and innovation. hotelforum regards a successful and homogeneous combination of the individual aspects to form a winning, economically-successful hotel concept as crucial.
